By Dr. Yetunde Sannoh – Founder – Primary Care, Weight Loss & Aesthetics in Upper Marlboro & Waldorf, MD
When people ask me why I created Total Wellness Healthcare Clinic, the answer is simple: I wanted to provide the kind of healthcare I would want for myself and my family.
My journey began in hospital medicine. After completing my residency and becoming board-certified in Internal Medicine, I worked as a hospitalist caring for some of the sickest patients – people whose conditions had become severe enough to require hospitalization.
As I cared for these patients, I began noticing a pattern. Many of the conditions bringing people into the hospital could have been prevented or managed earlier with consistent, personalized primary care. Too often, patients felt rushed, unheard, or disconnected from their providers. They weren’t getting the preventive care, education, and support they needed before a health crisis occurred.
That realization changed the direction of my career. I founded Total Wellness Healthcare Clinic to create a different healthcare experience. One where patients feel heard, valued, and genuinely cared for, with a focus on long-term health rather than just treating illness as it arises.
Healthcare Should Be Personal
One principle guides my practice above all others: I treat patients the way I would want to be treated.
Before making recommendations, I take time to understand each person’s concerns, goals, and circumstances. Every patient is unique, and healthcare should reflect that – not a one-size-fits-all approach, but an individualized plan built for lasting results.
Communication matters too. My patients know they can reach out with questions and concerns between visits. That kind of trust is what turns a provider into a true partner in someone’s health journey.
Looking Beyond Illness
While primary care remains at the heart of what we do, health is about more than the absence of disease. It is how you feel, how you look, your confidence, your energy, and your overall quality of life. That belief is why I built Total Wellness around the whole person, not just the chart in front of me.
For patients carrying extra weight, that often starts with our medical weight loss program, including physician prescribed FDA approved GLP-1 therapies like semaglutide and tirzepatide, paired with the kind of ongoing monitoring and lifestyle support that makes the results stick. For others, it means chronic disease management, mental health care, or aesthetic services such as Botox and dermal fillers, skin rejuvenation, laser hair removal, PRP treatments, and IV hydration, that help patients look and feel like themselves again.
Our goal is simple: help patients look better, feel better, and live healthier lives through personalized, evidence-based care.
A Comfortable, Unhurried Patient Experience
Another part of my vision was creating an environment where patients feel comfortable from the moment they walk in. We intentionally avoid overbooking, because your time matters. You shouldn’t have to spend hours in a waiting room to receive quality care.
Today, we proudly serve patients from two convenient locations in Upper Marlboro and Waldorf, Maryland. Whichever office you visit, our focus stays the same: compassionate, personalized care in a welcoming environment.
A Partnership for Better Health
What I enjoy most about medicine is the chance to truly get to know my patients. Healthcare is about relationships – listening, educating, encouraging, and helping people make changes that improve their lives. Whether someone is managing a chronic condition, working toward a weight loss goal, or simply wanting to feel their best, I consider it a privilege to be part of that journey.
Total Wellness Healthcare Clinic was built on the belief that healthcare should be personal, proactive, and focused on the whole person. That vision continues to guide everything we do today.
